Schon seit mehr als zehn Jahren kehrt der Regisseur Leonard Retel Helmrich wieder und wieder in die Heimat seiner Urgroßeltern zurück, um die Veränderungen in Indonesien in den ungestümen Jahren der wirtschaftlichen und kulturellen Globalisierung zu beobachten und auf Film zu bannen. Das Portal DAFilms zeigt nun alle drei Filme seiner bekannten Dokumentarfilmtrilogie (inklusive seines bisher letzten Werks – Position among the Stars). Vor dem Hintergrund der Spannungen in der indonesischen Gesellschaft dokumentiert Helmrichs Kamera das Leben der Familie Sjamsuddin, die in einem Armenviertel von Jakarta ihre alltägliche Geschichte aus Arbeit und Sorgen, gegenseitiger Liebe und Feindschaft erlebt. In der Woche ab dem 21.5. können Sie noch dazu die ersten zwei Filme der Trilogie – The Eye of the Day und Shape of the Moon – kostenlos ansehen.
DOC ALLIANCE SELECTION // 2012
This year DOC ALLIANCE is proud to welcome FID Marseille as its sixth partner and has chosen a new procedure for selecting the films that will be screened at Visions du Réel, Planete Doc Film Festival Warsaw, FID Marseille, DOK Leipzig, IDFF Jihlava and CPH:DOX Copenhagen: each member country has proposed a film critic and a film. Among these six productions, the critics have nominated three films that will be shown at the six festivals and will compete for the Doc Alliance Award to be presented at the end ofthe year.
The Anabasis of May and Fusako Shigenobu, Masao Adachi, and 27 years without Images
As the screenwriter for directors such as Nagisa Oshima and Kōji Wakamatsu, Masao Adachi was deeply involved with the left-wing radical politics of his time. After a trip to Lebanon to meet the notorious Japanese United Red Army, he decided to join them. Masao Adachi was arrested in 2001 and forced to return to Japan. Director Eric Baudelaire uncovers one of the best-kept secrets of Japanese cinema and society.
